10 Summer Home Renovations You Can Do Over The Weekend

When undertaking summer home improvements, investors consider cost-effectiveness, efficiency, amount of time, and most importantly, return on value. As a homeowner, understanding these variables will enable you to prioritize your summer home renovations, including what's most necessary on your list, what can be accomplished quickly, and what will yield the highest return.

10 Summer Home Renovations You Can Do Over The Weekend

Summer is an excellent time to start over and give your home that much-needed facelift. On the other hand, many summer house renovations can take weeks, if not months, to complete. You'll need some quick summer DIY projects that won't set you back a month's pay. The following are some of the most popular tasks that may be finished in a single weekend:

1. Spruce Up The Exterior

Paint the exterior of your home with a serene finish that will cool you down during the hot summer months. Paint colors with green and blue tones will help cool down the outdoor area. If you want to do something more involved, add an outdoor bar in a shaded area where you can serve drinks and snacks to your guests. Start by building a sturdy frame from lumber, then finish it off with some chic countertops from Lowe's or Home Depot. You'll find great styles, shapes, and colors in their stock.

2. Enhance The Landscaping

Consider bringing in some new lawn grass for your property. You'll love the way it looks, and your neighbors will smile at its beauty. If you have a garden, add a few flower beds that you can do over the weekend. Before cutting back your plants to the ground, spread some mulch around them to ensure they don't harm each other when you start pulling them up.

3. Upgrade Windows

If you have a large collection of antique windows, consider replacing them with newer models. You can opt for double or triple-pane glass to seal the frames. Finish off the siding with a durable stain to keep it clean and appealing for years to come. You'll save a huge amount of money, and your home will look gorgeous with new windows that do not leak and are energy efficient.

4. Build A Fire Pit

You can build your own fire pit in the yard. This can be constructed from stones, bricks, or pavers. Create a flat surface for it to rest on and install a grill under it so that you can cook at the same time you enjoy the fire. Make sure you get the right permits before starting this project to avoid problems with local authorities later on.

5. Fix/Upgrade The Front Door

Add some trim around your door, or replace it with a new one if it's too weathered. This will make quite an impact on the overall look of your home. You'll have to work out the design with a contractor and then do all the work yourself. You can save time by painting the door white and letting it dry before you trim it up in your desired color.

 6. Add A Security System

You can install an alarm system that will make you feel more secure in your home. You'll have the peace of mind you need after the long and busy summer months when everyone is on vacation. Your home will also be secure from intruders.

7. Replace Fences & Gates

If your fence is falling apart, it's time for an upgrade. Find a sturdy style that you find appealing and will keep your home safe from intruders. You'll also want to add gates to your property to keep children from playing in the street and getting in the way of traffic.

8. Weekend Bathroom Improvements

Now's the time to replace those old taps around your bathtub. Install one or two new matching mirrors on the wall to make it seem as if you have a much larger room. Or, you could even upgrade all of the fixtures in your bathroom to provide a luxurious look and feel.

9. Weekend Kitchen Improvements

Think about your old refrigerator and how much it costs to run. Now consider replacing it with a newer model that is energy efficient. You'll also want to look for other kitchen appliances that are new and stylish. Consider purchasing new countertops, backsplashes, and a sturdy commercial grade sink to replace your old ones.

10. Installing Ceiling Fans

Ceiling fans provide a lot of fun during the summer because they help keep you cool. You can increase air circulation by adding one or more fans in each room in your home. If you live in an area that's too cold for fans, consider doing this over the winter months when it's too warm for the AC to keep you cool
